Amid a full complement of bright-red firetrucks and a giant American flag, Long Beach’s newest fire station – the first in 22 years – was dedicated and opened Tuesday, May 6 on Terminal Island in the Port of Long Beach by city officials and firefighters with a traditional ceremony and tours.

| Dozens of residents joined the Port of Long Beach on Saturday, April 26, to celebrate the dedication of the new 51st Street Greenbelt in north Long Beach.
Local officials, residents and students participated in a ceremonial tree planting to commemorate Earth Day and the planting of nearly 50 trees beside the Los Angeles River at the new 51st Street Greenbelt and the nearby Perry Lindsey International Studies Magnet Middle School.
