Goods Movement Careers
The Port of Long Beach is a powerful jobs generator. The Port supports nearly 316,000 jobs in Southern California and more than 1.4 million jobs across the country. And the Port of Long Beach generates about 30,000 jobs right here in your own backyard – that’s 1 of every 8 jobs in the city of Long Beach. Jobs in international trade and goods movement span the spectrum, from entry-level positions at major railroads to high-level careers in international law.
You could become an environmental planner working to reduce the Port’s carbon footprint or a Customs and Border Protection officer keeping our ports safe. Organize cargo and track shipments to ensure goods arrive at their destination as a freight forwarder or carefully steer massive vessels into the harbor as a port pilot.
