 | |  | Mitigation Grants Advisory Committee
The Mitigation Grants Program Advisory Committee consists of an industry representative, a regulatory agency representative, and three Long Beach community representatives appointed by the Mayor's Office. This committee advises Port staff on the development of application materials, reviews project applications and provides award recommendations based on ranking criteria outlined in the program guidelines in each of the three grant programs. The accumulated expertise of regulatory agency members, industry experts and community members provides the framework for informed implementation of the Grant Program. The advisory committee members are:
- Loara Cadavona - Community Hospital Long Beach
- Dr. Philip Fine - South Coast Air Quality Management District
- T.L. Garrett - Pacific Merchant Shipping Association
- Betty Karnette - Former California State Senator
- Peggy Taricco - California Air Resources Board
- Silissa Uriarte Smith - Orange County Communities Organized for Responsible Development
Century Villages at Cabrillo in west Long Beach dedicated its new "landscape barrier" on April 27 -- Arbor Day 2012 -- thanking the Port of Long Beach and others for funding for the project that will improve air quality on the Villages campus.
