Cargo entering and leaving the Port does so by using the regional transportation system including Ocean Boulevard, and the Long Beach Freeway (I-710), the Terminal Island Freeway (SR47/103), and the Harbor Freeway (I-110). With almost 10 million twenty-foot equivalent units leaving the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles annually, it is important that the regional transportation system be adequate. The Port is very proactive in transportation planning and policy both within and outside the Harbor District.
