News ImagePort Wins Communication Awards
September 23, 2011: The Port of Long Beach won several awards in the communications field in September, including the prestigious Dan Maynard Award for Excellence in Communications at the American Association of Port Authorities conference in Seattle on September 15. The Port was also a big winner at the national 3CMA (City-County Communications and Marketing Association) conference in Austin, Texas on September 9.

News ImageCarrier Recognizes Port of Long Beach
June 9, 2011: Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has awarded the Port of Long Beach its highest recognition as the "Best Port Overall" during the carrier's annual Maritime Operations Conference in Charleston, SC.
MSC is one of the largest ocean carriers in the world with calls to virtually every seaport in North America.
At the Port of Long Beach, MSC calls at SSA Terminals in Pier A. SSA Terminals was recognized along with the Port during the June 3 event.

News ImageLong Beach Named 'Greenest' Seaport
April 28, 2011: The Port of Long Beach was named the best "Green Service Provider" among seaports in the world by Cargonews Asia at the 2011 Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards in Hong Kong.
It is the first time the Port has been recognized in this category. The Port has been named the "Best North American Seaport" a record 14 times.

April 19, 2011: The Port of Long Beach was the top awards winner at the California Association of Public Information Officials Annual Convention in Sacramento. CAPIO, the state’s premier association for government communications, recognized the best in the field during an awards ceremony April 15.

News ImageHarvard Reconizes Ports' Tech Program
September 29, 2010: The Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government has named the Port of Long Beach and Port of Los Angeles' Technology Advancement Program (TAP) one of the "Bright Ideas" of 2010. Bright Ideas was created to recognize creative government initiatives around the country and spur cooperation, center officials said.

September 27, 2010: The American Association of Port Authorities has awarded the Port of Long Beach with two excellence honors in communications. The Port won for its Clean Trucks Program advertising series and the community newsletter Re:port in the periodicals category. Honorable mentions went to the 2008 Annual Report, the Clean Trucks Program's overall communication campaign and Green Port Fest.

September 27, 2010: The American Association of Port Authorities has awarded the Port of Long Beach with the 2010 Facilities Engineering Award for the $73 million environmental clean-up of Pier A West. The project, which began in 2001, resulted in the excavation, treatment and disposal of more than 400,000 tons of solid waste and nearly 3 million gallons of contaminated groundwater.

September 15, 2010: The Port's Clean Trucks Program has been awarded the IANA Intermodal Achievement Award by the Intermodal Association of North America. The influential trade group said the Clean Trucks Program has served as a model for seaports around the country.

May 20, 2010: The Port received the annual WTS Rosa Parks Diversity Leadership Award on May 20, 2010 in Washington D.C. for its efforts to reach ethnic minorities and women through its Green Port outreach efforts and the Small Business Enterprise program. Founded in 1977, the Women's Transportation Seminar is dedicated to the professional advancement of women in transportation.
