Deadlines to apply are March 1 and 14
February 19, 2013
College costs can be daunting, but the Port of Long Beach is here to help.
If you are a student and interested in pursuing a trade-related career, you may be eligible for a Port scholarship. You must be a high school senior in the Long Beach Unified School District, or enrolled at California State University, Long Beach, or Long Beach City College to qualify.
Each year, the Port awards about $60,000 in scholarships to help prepare the next generation of working professionals for the goods movement industry. Recipients include students who are pursuing a variety of career paths related to international trade and seaports including engineering, environmental studies, business, industrial arts and other trades.
Since 1993, the Port has awarded nearly $475,000 to 272 Long Beach college and high school students.
