Harbor Commission to Meet in the Community Monday, March 18

March 15, 2013

The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners is holding its Monday, March 18, meeting at St. Mary Medical Center, 1050 Linden Ave., Long Beach. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the hospital's Health Enhancement Center.
Guests will have an opportunity to tour the St. Mary Breathe Easy Mobile Clinic and the UCLA Breathmobile beginning at 5:30 p.m., and refreshments will be provided. Parking will be available in the hospital’s structure off 10th Street.
Following welcoming remarks from St. Mary Medical Center President and CEO Thomas Salerno, the Port’s Environmental Planning Division will present an update on the Community Mitigation Grant Programs.
Since 2011, the Port has awarded $5.4 million in greenhouse gas mitigation grants, $5 million for health care and senior facility projects, and $4.7 million for schools and related sites. These grants were created to offset some of the negative impacts of development at the port that cannot be fully eliminated through existing technology.
The Harbor Commission, the governing body of the Port of Long Beach, generally meets twice a month at the Port administration building. The Commission goes off-site periodically to offer greater access to the community.
