June 12, 2013
The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners has selected Dr. Noel Hacegaba, the Executive Officer of the Board, to serve as the Acting Deputy Executive Director of the Port of Long Beach.
“Noel has done an exemplary job as Executive Officer and we are confident he will provide outstanding support to (newly selected Acting Executive Director) Al Moro during the next several months,” said Board President Susan E. Anderson Wise. “Noel will be working closely with Al and the rest of the senior management team to guide the Port through the projects and initiatives that are underway. Like Al, Noel will not be a candidate for the Executive Director position.”
The Board is scheduled to vote on both appointments at its June 17 meeting.
Dr. Hacegaba has been the Board Executive Officer since 2010,
managing the day-to-day functions of the Harbor Commission.
He has more than 15 years of public and private sector experience spanning a variety of industries and capacities. Prior to joining the Port of Long Beach, he worked with Republic Services, the nation's second-largest environmental services company. Earlier, he served as Assistant Chief of Staff for the Long Beach City Prosecutor's Office.
Dr. Hacegaba is a graduate of the University of Southern California, where he earned degrees in economics (BA and MA), business administration (BS) and urban planning (MPL). He also earned his doctorate in public administration at the University of La Verne, where he continues to serve on the faculty of the school's College of Business and Public Management.
