Long Beach Pilotage Rates Increase 10 Percent

June 25, 2014

Effective June 1, pilotage rates have increased at the Port of Long Beach. On average, the 10 percent increase is expected to add about $537 per ship to the previous costs, but the actual charges will vary based on a vessel’s length, gross tonnage, draft and other factors. Jacobsen Pilot Service Inc. has provided pilotage service to vessels calling at Long Beach since 1922. Pilotage rates at the Port of Long Beach remain among the lowest of most major U.S. ports. The Port last raised pilotage rates in 2010.
