Breaking Through Lighting the Way Educational Symposium on Feb. 3

Breaking Through Lighting the Way, a trade-related educational symposium, will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 6-7:30 p.m., in the Board Room of the Port of Long Beach Interim Administrative Headquarters, 4801 Airport Plaza Drive, Long Beach, 90815. Moderator for the event will be Harbor Commission President Lori Ann Guzm├ín and panelists will be former Harbor Commission President Doris Topsy-Elvord and former Port Chief Wharfinger and Director of Trade and Maritime Services Wilma Powell. Breaking Through Lighting the Way began as a book exploring race relations in America and Southern California through the lives and experiences of 12 African-American women who made a difference in the history of Long Beach. For more information on the group, visit its website.
