New, easier reservation system for ‘hot tickets’ begins April 4
March 31, 2016
Do you want an exclusive look at a seaport at work? Register online on Monday, April 4, for a free harbor tour at the Port of Long Beach in May. Learn how the Port is welcoming the world’s biggest cargo ships and building the Green Port of the Future.
Due to high demand, the Port is implementing a lottery system for the 90-minute, behind-the-scenes, narrated tours running May through September. To increase access, the new online reservation system will provide an eight-hour window to register via computer or mobile device for one of the four harbor tours available in the next month. A random drawing will select participants for each tour and within 48 hours you will receive confirmation of your reservation or notification that you are on a waiting list.
Tours are scheduled on the first and third Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m., and the second and fourth Thursdays at 7 p.m. The first registration date, for May tours, will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 4. Registration for subsequent months will be on the first Monday of the month before desired tour dates. For example, June tour dates will be open for registration on Monday, May 2.
