Bridge Shutdown Scheduled Dec. 16

Work includes maintenance and roadway improvements

November 27, 2007

The Port will be shutting down lanes of the Gerald Desmond Bridge for routine maintenance and roadway improvements. The work is scheduled for nighttime hours to minimize the impact on commuter traffic.

Motorists traveling between Long Beach and the San Pedro area will be directed to an alternate route during the closure by posted message boards and directional signs. Emergency vehicles will have access to the bridge in both directions, if need be. The schedule is as follows:

All Westbound lanes will be closed Friday, December 14 from 10 p.m. to Saturday, December 15 at 6 a.m.

A full closure of the Gerald Desmond Bridge is scheduled Sunday, December 16, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you have questions about the lane closures, please contact the Port's Terminal Services Office at 562-590-4180 during business hours. For after-hours inquiries, please contact the Harbor Patrol at 562-590-4185.
