Port at ‘First Fridays Long Beach’

Monthly event showcases local artists and supports businesses

May 4, 2010

The Port of Long Beach will mingle with musicians, photographers and other artists this Friday, May 7, at "First Fridays Long Beach" in Bixby Knolls.

The Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association's event, now in its fourth year, showcases local artists through local businesses. Participating Bixby Knolls shops stay open beyond their regular hours and provide outlets for painters, musicians and other performing artists.

The Port will share space with various art groups at the Expo Building on 4321 Atlantic Avenue. The program starts at 6:30 p.m. and Harbor Commissioner and Bixby Knolls resident Thomas Fields will be present with Port staff to share information about the Port of Long Beach and its impact on the local community.

As an important economic engine supporting about 30,000 jobs locally, the Port is an engaged member of the Long Beach community. Please join us May 7 for "First Fridays Long Beach" and find out what the city and its Port have to offer.
