Cargo Operations Continue During Contract Talks

All shipping terminals open at the Port of Long Beach

July 7, 2010

All Port of Long Beach shipping terminals continue to be open and operating during the ongoing labor contract negotiations between marine terminal operators and the office clerks union, the ILWU Local 63A Office Clerical Unit.

The clerical unit's contract with the Los Angeles/Long Beach Harbor Employers Association, which represents the terminal operators, ended June 30. The current negotiations do not involve truck drivers, dockworkers or others in the work force.

The Port of Long Beach is not a party to the negotiations between the clerical unit and the terminal operators’ representative.
