Celebrating history while building a better future

March 25, 2011

The latest episode of the award-winning “Pulse of the Port” program explores 100 years of history, how the Port is helping the local and broader economy, and much more.

This year, the Port of Long Beach is celebrating its Centennial. It is an opportunity to reflect on its past, evaluate the present and plan for the future.

Today, the Port of Long Beach helps support more than 1 million jobs across the country. Many of those jobs are at small businesses. In this episode, learn how the Port's Small Business/Very Small Business Enterprise Program has helped pump close to $100 million into qualifying companies.

Also in this episode, learn why the Port decided to expand its milestone Clean Trucks Program to include even more trucks and watch a segment on the Port's history that concludes with the latest State of the Port delivered by Executive Director Richard D. Steinke in late January. Lastly, see how cargo volumes are returning to the Port of Long Beach and why that is good news for the whole country.
