Lytle, the Port's former deputy executive director and chief operations officer, was appointed to the top post by the Board of Harbor Commissioners late last year. The maritime industry veteran takes the helm at the nation's second busiest seaport as it prepares to invest more than $4 billion over the next decade on capital improvement projects, creating thousands of jobs for the region.

The Port of Long Beach is one of the world’s premier seaports, a primary gateway for transpacific trade and a trailblazer in innovative goods movement, safety and environmental stewardship. With 140 shipping lines connecting Long Beach to 217 seaports worldwide, the Port handles trade valued at more than $140 billion each year and supports hundreds of thousands of jobs in Southern California.
