Storms, Port outlook, ILWU and the new commissioner
News Image In the newest episode of "Pulse of the Port," the Port of Long Beach's award winning video program, field reporter Scott Nelson braves the recent storms to show the hardy souls who keep the Port humming, even with 17-foot ocean swells and torrential rains.

Also in the February episode, Port Executive Director Richard D. Steinke delivers one of the most anticipated “State of the Port” addresses in the annual event’s history. Find out how hundreds of dock workers get their job assignments each day at the ILWU Local 13 Dispatch Hall. And meet Thomas Fields, a Washington D.C. native and the latest member of the Port’s Board of Harbor Commissioners.

Stacking containers, 'green' demolition and more
News Image Ever wonder how shipping containers get stacked so high and so neatly at Port of Long Beach terminals?


  • Take a ride inside a Rubber Tire Gantry or RTG crane and find out in the latest episode of award winning show "Pulse of the Port."
  • Check out how the Port is recycling 95 percent of all demolition materials as it builds its new administration building.
  • Listen to Port truck drivers as they explain why they switched to less polluting rigs under the Port's Clean Trucks Program.
  • And last but not least, see why the Port of Long Beach recently received a Distinguished Arts Award from the Long Beach Arts Council.
